Hydrology is the science that deals with the processes governing the depletion and replenishment of water resources of the earth's land areas. The purpose of this book is to put together recent developments on hydrology and water resources engineering. First section covers surface water modeling and second section deals with groundwater modeling. The aim of this book is to focus attention on the management of surface water and groundwater resources. Meeting the challenges and the impact of climate change on water resources is also discussed in the book. Most chapters give insights into the interpretation of field information, development of models, the use of computational models based on analytical and numerical techniques, assessment of model performance and the use of these models for predictive purposes. It is written for the practicing professionals and students, mathematical modelers, hydrogeologists and water resources specialists.

TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 544: Environmentally Sensitive Channel- and Bank-Protection Measures examines environmentally sensitive channel- and bank-protection measures and includes recommended design guidelines for their application and a selection system for helping to determine the most appropriate channel- and bank-protection measure. The selection system is presented as an interactive software program entitled "Greenbank," which can be found on the accompanying CD-ROM (CRP-CD-58). The selection system software (CRP-CD-58) is available for download in an ZIP format.

TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 653: Effects of Debris on Bridge Pier Scour explores guidelines to help estimate the quantity of accumulated, flow event debris, based on the density and type of woody vegetation and river bank condition upstream and analytical procedures to quantify the effects of resulting debris-induced scour on bridge piers. The debris photographic archive, the survey questionnaire and list of respondents, and the report on the field pilot study related to development of NCHRP 653 was published as NCHRP Web-Only Document 148: Debris Photographic Archive and Supplemental Materials for NCHRP Report 653.
