Hello my name is Jessica Herman; this book is about the journey I have had during the process of lengthening my left leg, all because I was born with congenital short femur. This means I was born with my left femur shorter than my right. I am making this book for everybody to read and especially for the people who are in the same position as I was when I was eight and had to have this operation. I would like to introduce some people mentioned in this book or just family and friends that have helped me through this journey. Mr. Leo Donnan, all the people at the R.C.H, my grandparents, my mum Carol, my dad Greg and my two loving sisters Melanie and Sarah. My aunties, uncles, cousins, family friends, and the people who have helped me during school especially my friends. I would love to thank these people for helping and encouraging me through this. If there is anyone I haven't mentioned I am sorry but thank you. There is one more person or should I say my toy bear, Stanley. He has come in surgery with me every time; he is so special to me even though he is just a toy bear.

Through this book you will come to know Carol's most personal thoughts and what moments shook her world. During some of her most insecure times she would tell me, "Sis, as they say, feel the fear but do it anyway."
