This book deals with the Islamic law of will for the administration of Muslim estates. It examines the rules of Islamic law of wills in Malaysia in respect of testamentary provisions giving directions as to the administration of the estates and other matters. This is done in the context of the will of entrustment (wisoyah) in particular. The discussion focuses on the meaning of will of entrustment (wisoyah) its origin, its characteristics, its legality, its legal ruling and its creation which deal with four essential elements: testator (musi), executor (wasi), subject matter of will (musa fih) and formation (sighah). The discussion will also highlight the issues of testacy and intestacy with regard to Muslim estates. In what sense are these two terms to be taken by Muslims? The study attempts to examines various state enactments relating to Islamic law of wills. This requires some reference to the meaning of Islamic wills as understood at present and wills under civil law.

The second edition of Family Law (Non-Muslims) in Malaysia is generally an improved version from the. first edition which was published ten years ago and heavily referred to by law students as a textbook. It discusses the substantive family laws related to the non-Muslims in Malaysia which are based on the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976- an􀀉 several other supplementary statutes. Besides updating the previous chapters on family law matters, the book updates the global concern on the appropriate law when dealing with family related disputes in the 21st century. The new topics on reconciliation and mediation are incorporated to emphasise the need for therapeutic intervention when dealing with personal relationships and encourage kindness even in the most difficult of circumstances which can have significant longer-term consequences and lead to higher levels of considerate behaviour. The philosophy of family, love and kindness must be well embraced by family law lawyers, judges and administrators of family law in the adjudication process. The book is jointly authored by family law lecturers at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. It will benefit not only students, academics and practitioners, but also those in the legal fraternity and those who have interest in non-Muslims' family law in Malaysia. The application of Shariah compliance in business transactions continues to increase. The Asian financial crisis of 1997, global financial crisis of 2007-2008, Enron scandal and other reported ills besieging conventional business transactions have led to advocates of Shariah-compliant business transactions promoting the latter as a credible alternative. However, unlike the banking, commerce and financial sectors, the uptake by the construction sector was sluggish due to limited understanding of Shariah among the practitioners and policymakers compounded by the lack of research and publications on its application for the construction sector.This book is intended for students, researchers, practitioners and policymakers of the construction industry as well as the related upstream and downstream activities.
