Her Eyes was originally published in 1952 and is recognized by many scholars as Bozorg Alavi's finest novel. Alavi, a leading contemporary Persian writer and a champion of the Left, is well known for his political activism, which led to his imprisonment in Iran under the regime of Reza Shah. Her Eyes is the story of Farangis, a member of the Iranian upper class whose life of leisure has left her without employable skills. Despairing, she enrolls in a Parisian art school, only to discover that she is severely lacking as a painter. She returns to Iran to participate in the political activities of Ostad Makan, Iran's greatest painter. This most popular of Alavi's novels, translated into English for the first time, presents a realistic picture of 20th-century Iran in the throes of rapid, forced modernization. Co-published with the Persian Heritage Foundation.

At the pinnacle of wealth and power, Alex Miller stands alone. Women flock to him, drawn by his standing and immense sex appeal. Nothing touches his heart—until he meets Gen. (Applause Books). This the first book to examine the films of the acclaimed and popular Indian-born and Harvard educated filmmaker, Mira Nair. A unique voice in cinema today, she is one of the few female directors who made it to the top of a male-dominated profession. Her films feature an incomparably sensuous visual style yet at the same time often record the injustice of the disenfranchised and the cross-pollination of East and West. Her twin themes of realism and romance make for dazzling cinema. John Kenneth Muir analyzes all of Nair's work, including: Salaam Bombay! (1988), the groundbreaking story of a young boy abandoned by his family on the streets of Bombay; Mississippi Masala (1991), an interracial small town romance between an Indian woman (Sarita Choudhury) and an African American businessman (Denzel Washington); Monsoon Wedding (2001), featuring a Bollywood carnival atmosphere, one of the most successful foreign films ever released in the United States; Hysterical Blindness (2002), the HBO film featuring Uma Thurman and Juliette Lewis, looking for love in all the wrong places; The big-budget Hollywood adaptation of the Thackery novel Vanity Fair (2004), starring Reese Witherspoon, Gabriel Byrne, and Eileen Atkins.

I should have died. Sometimes I wish I did. At least then I wouldn't be alone. After my parents' divorce, my mom moved on with her yoga-teaching boyfriend and my dad threw himself into work leaving me to figure out how to navigate my new reality on my own. Transitioning from an all-girls school in Malibu to the elite Arlington Park Academy in the suburbs of Chicago means more changes than I can handle. I feel like I'm drowning, losing myself...craving the sense of belonging I lost. Then the overly enthusiastic class president and my next-door neighbor, Emily, claimed me as her new best friend and broke through my fragile walls before I could even get out my name. She took me to a party that changed my life, I met the most popular kids of the Academy and the group of guys that made me feel like I found my home. Luca, the one that saved me. Skyler, the one that made me laugh. Noah, the one challenged me. Vince, that one that understood me. And Gavin, the one that included me. Too bad Emily and her friends don't exactly get along with the guys. I can balance both groups. I have to. I can't risk losing anyone else. Especially since the guys say they know the reason I survived the accident that killed her brother and best friend. Secrets in Her Eyes is a slow-burn reverse harem romance, and the first book in the Arlington Park series.
