Discusses whether the people will make their payments on time, and the consequences of not doing so. Also discusses many of his concerns about managing the land and paying the appropriate taxes.

Written from Warren. Received his letter via Mr. [Thomas] Vose and is glad to hear Vose is acting as Knox's agent in the region. Writes that he will assist Vose whenever he can, and the people of the region are willing to accept him also. Provides advice on how best to use the help of his agents, including Vose and [David] Fales, to accommodate the citizens of the Waldo patent lands and accomplish his business goals. Also includes some financial calculations for taxes.

Encloses an agreement based on their conversations together. Also encloses a power of attorney. Hopes that their arrangement will be mutually beneficial. Writes, [m]y object is to have a faithful friend whom I can trust at all times and under all circumstances. Discusses his relations with the people of several towns in the Waldo patent lands. Wants to bring all the people to a compromise, and has engaged the help of David Fales of Thomaston in this regard (see GLC02437.04083). Has utmost confidence in Fales, who has been employed in the area for a long time. He is also a surveyor by trade. Lists several other friends who have been appointed in different parts of the patent, such as Mr. Moses Copeland of Warren. Provides information on the people of various towns in the patent, such as their primary occupations and lifestyles. Gives instructions on how best to negotiate agreements and business and to accomplish his goals on Knox's behalf.

Talks about settlements on Knox's land in Maine. Discusses plans for the land and makes suggestions for improvement. Mentions finding settlers and the payment of taxes. Also comments briefly on land ownership issues among the Waldo heirs and settlers.

Copy of multiple letters. Appears to be correspondences between Henry Knox, Joseph Copeland, and Moses Copeland regarding Knox's Eastern lands. Knox complains about people cutting his timber on the Warren lands and requests Joseph Copeland's assistance. Asks Joseph Copeland to find evidence and prosecute the trespassers. A note from one of the Copeland's agreeing to Knox's request is also included. Knox also discusses a deed that is part of the Waldo patent lands. A table with a list of names and acres owned is also provided. A portion of the letter is a duplicate of GLC02437.07499.

Discusses legislation allowing them to sell the deeds. Comments on how best to proceed with the sales, as well as on how to handle pricing and payment. Apologizes for not responding to a recent letter by Vose, but has been extremely busy with business matters. Comments that he assumed Vose would meet with difficulty regarding the fencing reforms on the Waldo patent lands, but feels sure he can overcome the issues. Apologizes for any errors in the copy of an agreement given to him and refers him to a copy in Mr. [David] Fales' possession. Discusses the provisions in the agreement, as well as the contents of a recent letter from Captain [George] Ulmer. Comments on the payment of taxes and the acquisition of deeds on the property.
