In Fragile World: Ecology and the Church, scholars and activists from Christian communities as far-flung as Honduras, the Philippines, Colombia, and Kenya present a global angle on the global ecological crisis—in both its material and spiritual senses—and offer Catholic resources for responding to it. This volume explores the deep interconnections, for better and for worse, between the global North and the global South, and analyzes the relationship among the physical environment, human society, culture, theology, and economics—the “integral ecology” described by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’. Integral ecology demands that we think deeply about humans and the physical environment, but also about the God who both created the world and sustains it in being. At its root, the ecological crisis is a theological crisis, not only in the way that humans regard creation and their place in it, but in the way that humans think about God. For Pope Francis in Laudato Si’, the root of the crisis is that we humans have tried to put ourselves in God’s place. According to Pope Francis, therefore, “A fragile world, entrusted by God to human care, challenges us to devise intelligent ways of directing, developing, and limiting our power.”

This book presents a social-psychology model delineating the factors that may influence in an altruistic manner sustainable behaviour (SB) of students, faculty and administrators in four higher education institutions (HEI) with very different economic and social characteristics. It presents the areas where these individuals work (education and community management), and in which of them education for sustainability is promoted, focusing on four alternative methods of learning: play, art, group therapy, and personnel management. The book is intended for bachelors and graduated students, as well as researchers in social psychology, environmental psychology, conservation psychology, environmental education, education for sustainable development, cross-cultural psychology, and social sciences.

El presente libro denominado MANUAL PARA LA ELABORACIÓN E IMPLEMENTACION DE UN MODELO DE EVALUACIÓN POR COMPETENCIAS, es el resultado de once años de trabajo, asesoría y acompañamiento a tres grandes instituciones públicas, en donde he sido Rector y de las cuales me siento muy orgulloso. Este manual parte primero desde lo que es la fundamentación, es decir el manejo de conceptos claves como: competencias, evaluación enseñar y aprender desde la perspectiva de procesos. De modo que el lector tenga una clara concepción de lo que debe saber sobre el tema y así poder plantear un modelo y los pasos que se deben seguir para su implementación. Este manual le permite a los docentes crear un modelo práctico de evaluación que facilita la promoción y el éxito de los estudiantes. En la mayoría de países latinoamericanos se habla mucho de competencias, pero no se tiene bien claro que son y cómo aplicarlas en el contexto de la escuela y más complicado aún el cómo volverlas un elemento base para el proceso de evaluación. Este manual pretende ofrecer un enfoque o concepción básica de competencia en donde el docente en un lenguaje sencillo pueda entenderla en toda su esencia y aplicación. Otro aspecto importante de este manual está en ofrecer procedimientos que faciliten el proceso de evaluación en las instituciones educativas, acompañado de una serie de instrumentos que le permitan a las instituciones contar con herramientas que evidencien los avances de la evaluación en las instituciones, herramientas que le darán mayor forma al diseño curricular.
