No es sólo una historia. Es una GRAN historia. Y en realidad, ¿qué sentido tiene contar una pequeña historia si se puede contar una GRANDE? Por otro lado, conceptos como “grande” y “pequeño” dependen en gran medida del punto de vista. Además, “más grande” no siempre significa “mejor”.

Este libro recoge la traducción al castellano del libro The Structure of Big History de Fred Spier publicado en 1996 junto a una selección de otros escritos del mismo autor publicados a lo largo de las dos últimas décadas. Todos estos ensayos tienen en común dos cosas: el enfoque teórico general en términos de regímenes de la gran historia y su preocupación durante más de cincuenta años por la situación ecológica precaria en la que se encuentra la humanidad, que vive en la superficie de un planeta maravilloso pero limitado, y que fluye por el cosmos, tan inhóspito. La importancia de todo eso se explica en detalle en el presente libro.
