Selected, peer reviewed papers from the 2014 International Conference on Frontiers of Advanced Materials and Engineering Technology (FAMET 2014), March 28-29, 2014, Hongkong

This work brings together 465 peer-reviewed papers on Advanced Materials and Engineering Technology in order to promote the development of Materials Engineering and Engineering Technology, to strengthen international academic cooperation and communications, and to exchange research ideas. It provides readers with a broad overview of the latest advances in the field of Advanced Materials and Engineering Technology. Review from Book News Inc.: resented in three volumes, these proceedings cover topics ranging from nitrogen shock absorbing oil to microstructure of the A7N01 aluminum alloy. They contain relatively short peer-reviewed papers arising from a conference held in Xiamen, China in January 2012. Although billed as an international conference, nearly all of the papers are from scholars at Chinese universities. The pieces appear to offer the latest research, and benefit from regular figures, tables and equations.

This book presents the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Frontiers of Polymers and Advanced Materials held in Jakarta, Indonesia during January 10-15, 1993. This conference was organized and sponsored by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), and the Indonesian Polymer Association. The 244 participants represented a total of 24 countries and a wide variety of academic, industrial and government groups. The inauguration was held in the Royal Palace and was performed by President Soeharto of Indonesia. High level media coverage ensured worldwide recognition. The need for such a conference was emphasized by the fact that polymers have emerged as an important class of materials offering challenging opportunities for both fundamental research and new technological applications. There has been a tremendous growth of interest in the field of polymers, both in academia and in industry, and polymer science offers tremendous opportunities for both fundamental and applied work. This globally represented Second International Conference on Frontiers of Polymers and Advanced Materials was timely, especially given the current heightened enthusiasm for polymers and emerging novel applications.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee for this event, we are glad to welcome you to IWASE 2006, the First International Workshop on Advanced Software Engineering. We hope you will enjoy the traditional Chilean hospitality and, of course, please tell us how we can make your visit a pleasant and useful experience. The goal of this Workshop is to create a new forum for researchers, professionals and educators to discuss advanced software engineering topics. A distinctive feature of this Workshop is its attempt to foster interactions between the Latin-American software engineering community and computer scientists around the world. This is an opportunity to discuss with other researchers or simply to meet new colleagues. IWASE 2006 has been organized to facilitate strong interactions among those attending it and to offer ample time for discussing each paper. IWASE 2006 attracted 28 submissions from 14 countries, 8 of them outside Latin-America. Each of the 28 articles was reviewed by at least three members of the Program Committee. As a result of this rigorous reviewing process, 13 papers were accepted: nine fiill papers and four work-in-progress papers. These papers were grouped in four tracks; software architecture, software modeling, software development process and experiences in software development.

This volume highlights the papers presented at the National Academy of Engineering's 2012 U.S. Frontiers of Engineering Symposium. Every year, the symposium brings together 100 outstanding young leaders in engineering to share their cutting-edge research and technical work. The 2012 symposium was held September 13-15, and hosted by General Motors at the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. Speakers were asked to prepare extended summaries of their presentations, which are reprinted here. The intent of this book is to convey the excitement of this unique meeting and to highlight cutting-edge developments in engineering research and technical work.
