A New York Times bestseller, Safari is a magical journey for the whole family. Readers, as if on African safari, encounter eight wild animals that come alive using never-before-seen Photicular technology. Each full-color image is like a 3-D movie on the page, delivering a rich, fluid, immersive visual experience. The result is breathtaking. The cheetah bounds. The gazelle leaps. The African elephant snaps its ears. The gorilla munches the leaves off a branch. It’s mesmerizing, as visually immediate as a National Geographic or Animal Planet special. Accompanying the images is Safari, the guide: It begins with an evocative journal of a safari along the Mara River in Kenya and interweaves the history of safaris. Then for each animal there is a lively, informative essay and an at-a-glance list of important facts. It’s the romance of being on safari—and the thrill of seeing the animals in motion— in a book unlike any other.

You are invited to the inaugural Alphabet Food Safari. The concept is as follows. On the first Saturday of every month for 2012 we shall have a world food extravaganza. Each couple/person is invited to make a dish from a country of the world starting with a specific letter. Naturally, January will be the letter A. This first dinner will be hosted at our house at 7pm. Then at that first event a persons/couples name will be picked from a hat and they will then host the February event also to be started at 7pm so its easy to remember. Also at the first dinner, a letter will be picked from the hat so that the next choice of countries may be allocated. If you are interested in this event, would be prepared to make a dish to share once a month and are also able to host a dinner event during the year, please let us know and well put your name in the hat. If you are unable to host an event but would like to be a part of this social eating feast, we will host the event at our house when your name is selected.

Drama and beauty abound on the plains of Africa and in this superb collection of images, Australian photographers Kym and Tonya lllman present an intimate insight into Earth's greatest wilderness. This lavish book is the result of thousands of hours spent on safari in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The lllmans' innovative, and sometimes controversial, approach includes cameras buried at the edges of waterholes, mounted on aerial drones and on remote controlled buggies, with many lost to lions and elephants in the process. They have spent days concealed in photographic hides to capture low level shots and have chartered helicopters to photograph wildlife and vistas not accessible by land. Each photograph is accompanied by the fascinating story behind its capture. In a final section the lllmans discuss the various elements that ensure a successful safari, from both a sightseeing and photographic viewpoint. This splendid collection of photographs is an unforgettable record of Africa in all its untamed beauty and raw motion. From the brutality of the food chain to playful shots of animals at their most uninhibited, from majestic sunsets to brooding landscapes, there is no greater theatre than nature itself. This is Africa on Safari.
