En la actualidad, la educación virtual es una alternativa viable para muchas personas. Por ello, es necesario no sólo analizar y evaluar el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje virtual que ofrecen las instituciones sino garantizar el aprendizaje del alumno en dichos espacios. Esta obra presenta un cuerpo teórico fundamentado en las áreas de las ciencias de la Educación, la Informática y la Administración como base para construir un conjunto de modelos que sirvan para administrar la operación, la gestión-operativa y la gestión propiamente dicha del proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje virtual.

This book focuses on essential aspects of the theoretical foundations that support blended learning (BL) as a teaching training modality in tertiary education. Analyzing the changes in the world of education that lead to new ways of thinking and learning, it redefines the concept of blended learning at a time of constant growth in many universities around the world. This involves a shared reflection on the role of technology in the current university teacher education programs, as well as on the role that pedagogy plays in increasingly technology-driven contexts. Furthermore, the book presents pedagogical approaches to guide university professors in the design and implementation of blended learning courses. To this end, it describes some of the major models and approaches to BL instructional design, and examines issues related to the quality of BL training and the indicators to measure it, in order to identify those models that contribute to a better understanding of the dimensions that increase its effectiveness.

During the last decades, our society is witnessing an authentic revolution that, in a dizzying manner has deeply influenced, modified, and transformed the way of life of human beings. This constant and unstoppable revolution is transmuting all areas of our life: social, cultural, personal, labor, economic, training, etc. This new society is characterized by a high generation of knowledge and the constant and fluid processing of information. In this macro-context, the MOOC phenomenon emerged. MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) courses are based on the principles of massive, free access to all materials and resources offered online. This new didactic path can be constituted in an innovative techno-social tendency, especially oriented in the panorama of Higher Education to stimulate university improvement, open opportunities at the same time for education and training or, simply, derive towards a new business model for the universities. In addition to being an entry point for the popularization of science and knowledge, the future possibilities are enormous and are being studied in all their various dimensions. Many initiatives as a result have been developed to implement this new form of education. This book presents the proceedings of International Conference on Knowledge Society: Technology, Sustainability and Educational Innovation (TSIE 2019). The conference, which was held at UTN in Ibarra, Ecuador, on 3–5 July 2019, allowed participants and speakers to share their research and findings on emerging and innovative global issues. The conference was organized in collaboration with a number of research groups: Group for the Scientific Research Network (e-CIER); Research Group in Educational Innovation and Technology, University of Salamanca, Spain(GITE-USAL); International Research Group for Heritage and Sustainability (GIIPS), and the Social Science Research Group (GICS). In addition, it had the endorsement of the RedCLARA, e-science, Fidal Foundation, Red CEDIA, IEEE, Microsoft, Business IT, Adobe, and Argo Systems. The term “knowledge society” can be understood as the management, understanding and co-creation of knowledge oriented toward the sustainable development and positive transformation of society. In this context and on the occasion of the XXXIII anniversary of the Universidad Técnica del Norte (UTN), the Postgraduate Institute through its Master of Technology and Educational Innovation held the I International Congress on Knowledge Society: Technology, Sustainability and Educational Innovation – TSIE 2019, which brought together educators, researchers, academics, students, managers, and professionals, from both the public and private sectors to share knowledge and technological developments. El libro Evaluación educativa: diálogos con formación inicial de profesores – Brasil, Colombia, Chile, España, Inglaterra, México, Nueva Zelanda y Uruguay da una nueva mirada a un tema complejo que rara vez se aborda en la producción académica mundial, a saber, la forma en que la evaluación educativa se ha enseñado, apropiado y practicado en los cursos de formación docente de diferentes universidades y países. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on Learning Technology for Education Challenges, LTEC 2018, held in Žilina, Slovakia, in August 2018. The 25 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 54 submissions. The papers are organized in the following topical sections: Gamification and learning; learning and knowledge transfer; learning technologies applications; virtual learning environments; and mobile learning and MOOCs. LTEC 2018 examines how these technologies and pedagogical advances can be used to change the way teachers teach and students learn, while giving special emphasis to the pedagogically effective ways we can harness these new technologies in education.

Desde 2008, el Simposio Las Sociedades ante el Reto Digital, se ha venido desarrollando en el marco de la Cátedra Europa, organizado por la Universidad del Norte en Barranquilla, Colombia. En sus seis ediciones, se ha consolidado como un espacio de encuentro académico interesado en el abordaje interdisciplinar de las TIC desde tres grandes áreas, las ciencias sociales, las comunicaciones y la educación.
