La relevancia de la negociación colectiva en el marco de un sistema democrático de relaciones laborales es evidente. Su papel entre las diferentes instituciones jurídico-laborales resulta absolutamente esencia. Por estos motivos siempre está justificado el estudio de la negociación. Pero si a lo anterior se une el hecho de que se ha producido un proceso acelerado de reformas laborales que han afectado de lleno a la negociación colectiva, queda absolutamente justificado un estudio detallado del resultado final de las mismas. Se ofrece una visión general del conjunto de reformas, cuestión que ha abordado el Profesor Rodríguez-Piñero; para a continuación dedicar diferentes trabajos los aspectos estructurales de la negociación colectivo, cuestión esta que ha sido desarrollada por el Profesor Román Vaca, que ha centrado su estudio en la regulación legal sobre la estructura de la negociación, y por el Profesor Gorelli Hernández, que ha planteado el estudio de las reglas sobre concurrencia entre convenios. El estudio sobre las reglas de legitimación ha sido desarrollado por la Profesora Marín Alonso, las reglas sobre procedimiento negociador ha correspondido a la Profesora Sierra Benítez y el contenido mínimo a la Profesora Igartua Miró. En cuanto a la nueva regulación sobre vigencia y ultra actividad, se ha incluido un estudio desarrollado por el Profesor Lázaro Sánchez y el análisis de las reglas sobre aplicación e interpretación, incluyendo las importantes novedades en materia de solución extrajudicial de discrepancias ha correspondido a la Profesora Pérez Guerrero. El estudio finalizado con un trabajo general dedicado a la flexibilidad a través de la negociación colectiva, desarrollo por el Profesor Gutiérrez Pérez y un análisis sobre la desgraciada evolución de los pactos sobre extinción del contrato por cumplimiento de una edad, realizado por el Profesor Barrios Baudor.

Since 2007 and the economic meltdown caused by the financial crisis, our societies have been evolving in different ways. New political movements have emerged in Southern Europe and new social movements in pursuit of common concerns are playing a more active role in our daily lives. In a parallel way, after the failure to predict the financial crisis, economist and social science researchers seek fresh thinking and new models that can better explain this new reality. Regulations are of critical importance in shaping the welfare of economies and society. Thus, core legal disciplines are exploring the effects of the financial crisis on social rights, labour market regulations, and civil, common law or international law, among others. With no doubt, the economic crisis has deeply impacted our economic, social, political and legal environment. During the last decade, researchers from a wide range of disciplines have been looking for solutions. Now it is time make a side stop on the way and to gather results. The 1rst International SBRLab Conference, Finding solutions for a post-crisis society, is organized by the Social and Business Research Lab (SBRLab), Universitat Rovira i Virgili. It is as an international and virtual meeting point of interdisciplinary research and researchers. The purpose of this international conference is to bring together researchers from management, economics, political, social and legal disciplines in order to present and discuss new trends in their respective fields.

This book analyses the most important problems and challenges of the current labour market from the point of view of the balance between the parties of the employment contract. The contributions here are related to various pressing topics, including, for example, the future of work and worker protection on an international level against the strengthening of employers’ powers.
