"Desperate and Lonely Housewives, a Novel: Beautiful and Sexy Women of Waterford" is not a sex book, but it is a book about sex, passion, lies, sins, murder, intrigue, and other issues of morality found within our society today. The following stories allow you to see what has been going on for decades behind closed doors within small communities, especially the church. How do I know? For one thing, I have been there. Almost all of these scenes are true. As previously stated, I have changed the names to protect the guilty. I am extremely familiar with societal norms and the church scene in the Southern communities. Actually, anyone involved in the Church today…could have written this book. As you know, the Church is not infallible. You have read and/or seen the situations within the Church in the past three decades. It's not a pretty scene. All denominations have had their problems. Many people who read this book will think that I am blatantly and overtly criticizing the Church. That is certainly NOT my intent. My purpose in writing this book is to allow you the freedom to think and to admit that changes are indeed needed in our society, especially in our churches and families. We need to communicate more. We need to cast out the two by four that is in our own eye before we can see how to cast out the splinter from our neighbor's eye. We need to have more compassion and be more caring, regardless of a person's past. Any fool can criticize…and most fools do.From the very first chapter, you will be mesmerized by the entrance of “The Sexy and Seductive Choir Director” who attends The First Church on Blue Street in Waterford. The 650 parishioners are a mixture of middle class America to include blue collar, white collar, and all in between. The town of Waterford is a sleepy little giant that has a lot of energetic, bored, and sex crazy people who are very rapidly getting antsy and tense. They want more out of life...but exactly what...they have no idea. Then enters the Blue Street Sultry and Sensuous Choir Director who is a beautiful, tall, slender, big-breasted blonde…looking for action.Other chapters deal with steamy and hot love affairs, a love triangle, a “peeping-tom”, a church treasurer who is a thief, a scam which causes the Pastor to commit suicide, the church Judas (betrayer), the funeral which gives way to adultery, and the temptation which is just too great for the visiting evangelist.Every chapter will have you sitting on the edge of your chair, especially Chapter 13 “Who Killed Jack Henry?” One tragic late afternoon, Jack Henry, a deacon at Blue Street, was murdered…shot to death in his own home. He loved animals. He loved the big outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing. He loved his family. His biggest passion was horses. For five years, Jack and a lady named Jill…had an illicit love affair going on. They spent every spare moment together, mostly at the Waterford Stables. But neither of them could have known what was going to happen on May 1st of that year. Jill remembers the last time she saw Jack. It was a sunny spring day. “He told me he loved me and then kissed me goodbye.”

In an update of the groundbreaking original title, Dr. Juli Slattery illuminates the power of women in marriage, with an emphasis on the uniqueness of a woman’s capacity to build intimacy. What do you do if your husband won’t get a job? When you don’t like the way he's parenting the kids? How do you know when to stand up to a controlling husband—or if you’ve become a controlling or manipulative wife? Many women feel lost in their marriages. They don't know what to do with their disappointment, when to ask for help, or what it looks like to let go of the need to control. Yet, God has given women incredible power in marriage—but they have to learn how to use it. In a complete rewrite of her bestselling book, Finding the Hero in Your Husband, psychologist Dr. Juli Slattery gently guides women to see how their attempts to manage or fix the messiness of marriage may actually undermine the very connection they want to build. As you read this book, you will: See how disappointment in marriage isn’t the end of intimacy, but an opportunity to build true intimacy that will go the distance. Learn to use your relational power in a way that builds intimacy—instead of sabotaging it. Recognize the ways you unknowingly sabotage intimacy by using your power to take over in marriage. Understand what biblical submission isn’t and be empowered to step into the influence and responsibility you have within marriage. Solidly grounded in biblical truth, Juli covers topics such as work, home life, conflict, and intimacy. As a mentor and friend, she offers explanations of God’s design, healthy expectations, and relatable applications that women of faith can practice to influence their marriage and deepen their relationship with God. Ultimately, Finding the Hero in Your Husband, Revisited, will help a wife more clearly see and encourage the hero within her husband by examining her own heart.

If you think your forties were challenging—wait until you’re fifty. Just don’t wait until you’re fifty to read this book. It’s easier to handle this momentous change of life if you’re armed with good information, a sense of humor and, perhaps, a stiff drink. Fifty doesn’t happen overnight—the journey into midlife takes years and it’s different for everybody, female and male. Some start earlier, some start later, but in the end, it’s all the same: By the time you’re fifty adjustments are called for. This book is about helping women (and men, to some extent) navigate the changes that midlife brings. It gives credence, validity and voice to real concerns about entering middle age and practical advice on preserving and/or improving minds, bodies, desirability, confidence and creativity going forward. The book covers a broad range of topics from the perspective of midlife veterans, members of a silent majority of women that have a lot more to talk about than hot flashes and other physical manifestations of middle age. It is characterized by straightforward, conversational language, humorous anecdotes, helpful suggestions and an unwavering focus on reality, no matter how controversial or unorthodox. Women are hungry to hear about other women’s experiences in this area—and men are anxious to learn how to relate to the changing women in their lives as they are going through their own changes. They are all looking for relief—comic and otherwise. “Wait Until You’re Fifty” focuses less on menopause and more on the perspective changes, little murders and unexpected awakenings that midlife precipitates, such as: the permanently empty nest (farewell to fertility), midlife love (a whole other affair), and re-prioritizing friendship (who will be there for the back fifty?). MINDY LITTMAN HOLLAND wrote this book based on personal experience and interviews with dozens of women and men who had something to say about the joys and adversities of midlife. In addition to writing non-fiction, she writes long and short fiction. She lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

'The Nervous Housewife' is a case-study on housewives' psyche as analyzed by Abraham Myerson, a Lithuanian neurologist, psychiatrist, clinician, pathologist, and researcher. In his own words: "What are the causes of the change? Did the housewife of a past generation go through the same stage? Ask any man you meet and he will tell you his mother is or was more enduring than his wife. "She bore three times as many children; she did all her own housework; she baked more, cooked more, sewed more; she got up at five o'clock in the morning and went to bed at ten at night; she never went out, never had a vacation, did not know the meaning of manicure, pedicure, coiffure. She was contented, never extravagant, and rarely sick.""

Despite claims about the end of history and the death of cinema, visual media continue to contribute to our understanding of history and history-making. In this book, Marcia Landy argues that rethinking history and memory must take into account shifting conceptions of visual and aural technologies. With the assistance of thinkers such as Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, Cinema and Counter-History examines writings and films that challenge prevailing notions of history in order to explore the philosophic, aesthetic, and political stakes of activating the past. Marshaling evidence across European, African, and Asian cinema, Landy engages in a counter-historical project that calls into question the certainty of visual representations and unmoors notions of a history firmly anchored in truth.
