Charles Davies (b.ca. 1706) emigrated from England to Philadelphia, and married Hannah Matson in 1732/1733. Descendants (chiefly spelling the surname Davis) and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.

With the help of her family, the author has traced the journey of her ancestors, the Davis Family of Eutawville, South Carolina back to their enslavement on a plantation called The Rocks. It traces the family back t the mid 1700's to perhaps the first family members to arrive from Africa.
