Psicografas es una novela autobiogrfica de la artista Isaura Snchez. Inicialmente, encontramos a Snchez como una adolescente que realiza una serie de dibujos, haciendo uso del automatismo inconsciente y de los movimientos errticos de la mano. Pocos aos despus, Snchez advierte que estos dibujos, que considera carentes de significado, podran albergar contenidos precognitivos o representar hechos antes de que estos ocurran. Ingresa a la universidad y estudia la carrera de Historia del Arte donde enfrenta el reto de definir su expresin grfica: Es esto arte o parapsicologa? A lo largo de tres dcadas, Snchez vivir una lucha interior al tener que discernir la realidad o irrealidad del fenmeno predictivo que no cesa de manifestarse a travs de sus dibujos. Finalmente, la revelacin del significado de algunas figuras y smbolos, impacta profundamente en sus relaciones interpersonales y en su vocacin, cambiando para siempre su modo de pensar y sus creencias.

This edited volume’s chief aim is to bring together, in an English-language source, the principal histories and narratives of some of the most significant academies and national schools of art in South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, from the late 18th to the early 20th centuries. The book highlights not only issues shared by Latin American academies of art but also those that differentiate them from their European counterparts. Authors examine issues including statutes, the influence of workshops and guilds, the importance of patronage, discourses of race and ethnicity in visual pedagogy, and European models versus the quest for national schools. It also offers first-time English translations of many foundational documents from several significant academies and schools.
