A WW II and Korean War pilot and hero, a patriotic, middle American farmer who'd trusted his government with two sons in Vietnam, and been betrayed in that, after having his farm largely controlled by his government all his life, is in jeopardy of losing his homestead of 150 years. After his death, his sons scramble to hold onto the farm and make sense of all this and each other. A seed that Deke, the middle of three sons, and Barrett, his friend had brought back from Vietnam seventeen years earlier and kept pure, becomes a means of saving the farm, but in the process the hallucinogen from the seed begins to warn them of some imminent catastrophe through raining creatures and Barrett's visions. The plant the government's trying to suppress brings them signs and warnings about what their government's doing, as Barrett begins seeing Vietnamese spirits or "visitors" in the woods and fields when he ingests the stuff. Creature Storms is a rawly told and original work, a grounded human story of three brothers and a blood brother, their love for and struggle with each other, their country, and the sacrifices they make to hold onto their land which they had already risked their lives in war to protect. Politically timely, Creature Storms unfolds on a number of dramatic levels that build into an apocalyptic ending.

Beginning with the very origins of life on Earth, Woolfson considers pre-historic human-animal interaction and traces the millennia-long evolution of conceptions of the soul and conscience in relation to the animal kingdom, and the consequences of our belief in human superiority. She explores our representation of animals in art, our consumption of them for food, our experiments on them for science, and our willingness to slaughter them for sport and fashion, as well as examining concepts of love and ownership. Drawing on philosophy and theology, art and history, as well as her own experience of living with animals and coming to know, love and respect them as individuals, Woolfson examines some of the most complex ethical issues surrounding our treatment of animals and argues passionately and persuasively for a more humble, more humane, relationship with the creatures who share our world.

**Storm Warden Chronicles Complete Series 4-Book Boxset** Be careful what you wish for… There are very few things I know to be true. I’ve worked hard to stay alive while waitressing at Lunar Royale, a premiere casino in Boston serving explicitly supernatural clientele. I’ve taken these risks because I need money to escape Boston and start over in a new city. That money isn’t coming fast enough and now this job might kill me before I can escape. Tonight I plan on carefully maneuvering my way into the most important game of poker ever played at Lunar Royale. The stakes are high, and the players are Boston’s supernatural elite. But by the time I realize it’s not money they’re playing for, I’m stuck in the game. The real prize? A dragon’s egg. Dragons were supposed to be hunted to extinction during the Supernatural War, but before that, they were powerful conduits of magic. This egg, if real, is invaluable. You may just get it… All I wanted was to escape the city, and winning this dragon’s egg might be my ticket out... if I can survive the game to the end. I just have to ignore the way the dragon’s magic hums, calling to me from across the room. As if this dragon has belonged to me from the start... This boxset contains all four books in the Storm Warden Chronicles urban fantasy adventure! Each book is a 60k full story. Join Vera on her adventure today! The Storm Warden Chronicles is an urban fantasy adventure full of heart and set in a Boston filled with faeries, vampires, witches, dragons, magic, and the cutest dragon hatchling in existence!
