In the midst of the rapidly evolving industrial era 4.0, the creative economy industry has emerged as a beacon of innovation and imaginative ideas. As consumer preferences change, technology advances, and competition intensifies, the creative industry must continuously adapt its strategies to thrive in both local and global markets. Among the industries worth exploring, the batik industry stands out, as batik represents a significant cultural heritage of Indonesia that demands preservation and protection. Surakarta, renowned for its distinctive batik, holds a prominent place in the study of this industry. Surakarta, a city celebrated for its design-focused culture, has proposed Batik Solo as a design-based creative city to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization). Within this context, the research focuses on the Laweyan batik industrial area, the birthplace of batik in Surakarta. The level of competition in the national and global batik industry has a direct impact on the industry's growth, necessitating the development of a special strategy to confront these challenges and structure the business effectively. This book aims to uncover the strategic model of the Laweyan batik industry, employing the canvas model approach, to explore the economic potential of the Laweyan Batik industry, propose alternative business strategies, and safeguard the legacy of Kampung Batik Laweyan as a sustainable batik industry icon in Surakarta. ICHSS is an international seminar that is held every two years organized by the Research and Community Service Institute of the State University of Malang. The meeting aims to discuss the theoretical and practical developments of Social Sciences and Humanities in Indonesia and other countries with a view to build academic networks by gathering academics from various research institutes and universities. Community empowerment serves as a trigger to increase community independence and to cope with the challenges resulting from the rapid development of technology. An important aspect of the community empowerment effort is to link the results of innovation research for the benefit of community. The results of research should not only be limited to publications in the academic environment. Open Access to various forms of the existing literature is one of the requirements for innovative research to develop optimally. Therefore, this seminar has also served as a place for field researchers from various geographical areas to socialize, to discuss and to find solutions to current issues in the field of social sciences and humanities, as well as to build cooperation and synergy in creating ideas for mutual collaboration and to create joint research.

This book is the proceeding of the International Conference Jakarta International on Multidisciplinary Studies towards Creative Industries (JICOMS 2022) that was successfully held on 16 November 2022 using an hybrid platform. The conference was Encouraging the creative industry as the alternative of a global economic backbone, the First Jakarta International on Multidisciplinary Studies towards Creative Industries (JICOMS) 2022 is hosted by Center for Research and Community Service, Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif (Polimedia). The invited talk was presented Prof. Daniel Punday from Mississipi State University, USA; Prof. Yuh Wen Chen from Da-Yeh University, Taiwan; Ruanni Tupas, Ph.D from University College London, UK and Indra Kesuma Nasution, P.hD from ANC Japan Co, LTd Japan). This conference will give an excellent discussion and a future insight for developing our community. Taking Collaboration of Cross-Disciplinary Research to Develop Creative Industries as its theme, the forum welcomes academia, professionals, researchers, practitioners, students, and civil society organization representatives to share ideas and current studies in the fields of sciences and social sciences. By this improvement we can increase our economic growth to compete in global arena which starts moving to society 5.0. This book provides the thoughtful writings of a selection of authors illustrating a central concept: Sustainable Development in Creative Industries, which utilizes a monetary equilibrium addressing issues, particularly those associated with the use of an integrated area in cyberspace and physical space, and their effect on the creative industries. 15 universities from Asia and Europe have participated in the 9th Bandung Creative Movement, where this topic was explored. This proceeding contains selected papers of The International Seminar On Recent Language, Literature, And Local Culture Studies “Kajian Mutakhir Bahasa, Sastra, Dan Budaya Daerah (BASA)” held on 20-21 September 2019 in Solo, Indonesia. The conference which was organized by Sastra Daerah, Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Sebelas Maret and Culture Studies Postgraduate Program of Universitas Sebelas Maret. The conference accommodates topics for linguistics in general including issues in language, literature, local cultural studies, philology, folklore, oral literature, history, art, education, etc. Selecting and reviewing process for the The International Seminar On Recent Language, Literature, And Local Culture Studies “Kajian Mutakhir Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya Daerah” was very challenging in that it needs a goodwill of those who were involved in such a process. More than ten experts were invited in reviewing, giving suggestions for revision and at last selecting the papers. On that account, we would like to forward our appreciation and our gratefulness to such invited experts for having done the process. The committee received more than 180 papers from the participants and based on the results of the review, only 141 papers were declared fit to be presented at the seminar and subsequently published in the proceedings of BASA#3-2019 Papers in the proceeding are expected to give academic benefits, especially in broadening the horizon of our understanding in language, literature, and local culture studies. We realize that what we are presenting for the publication is till far for being perfect. Constructive criticism is very much welcome for improvement. Finally, the committees thank for the participation and congratulate for the publication of the papers in the proceedings of BASA#3-2019.
