En nuestro país la entrada del enfoque de género en la educación, se produce, a través de la discusión sobre el problema del acceso, y los beneficios que representa la incorporación de la mujer para el desarrollo. Se promueven básicamente políticas que reinvindican la igualdad de oportunidades. Se parte entonces, desde una visión liberal y aveces hasta funcional, que resultaba necesaria en esa coyuntura. Con esa visión, se realizan estudios sobre la inequidad de género en la educación que arrojan datos acerca de las brechas existentes: analfabetismo femenino expresado principalmente a nivel rural, los altos porcentajes de mujeres ocupadas en áreas consideradas tradicionales, la injusta posición de las mujeres en los planteles educativos, y gremios, el rol de los y las docentes.

El libro compendia una amplia gama de trabajos relativos a los estudios de género en educación para América-Latina, que abordan los temas más relevantes en el campo, como son las políticas públicas, la situación de las niñas y las jóvenes en la escuela, la feminización del magisterio, el diseño y desarrollo curricular y las diferencias psicológicas (rendimiento, actitudes y cognición) entre niños y niñas. Although climate change affects everybody it is not gender neutral. It has significant social impacts and magnifies existing inequalities such as the disparity between women and men in their vulnerability and ability to cope with this global phenomenon. This new textbook, edited by one of the authors of the seminal Women and the Environment in the Third World: Alliance for the Future (1988) which first exposed the links between environmental degradation and unequal impacts on women, provides a comprehensive introduction to gender aspects of climate change.
