In a world where the pace of technological advancement continues to accelerate, the imperative to ensure sustainable development has never been more pressing to address the same, the 1st International Conference on Multidisciplinary Approaches for Sustainable Development in Science & Technology (MASDST - 2024), took place at Manipal University Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, from 28th to 29th March 2024. Embracing the spirit of innovation and collaboration, this conference marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of sustainable solutions for our global challenges.

Nursing informatics has a long history of focusing on information management and nurses have a long history of describing their computer use. However, based on the technical advances and through the ongoing and consistent changes in healthcare today, we are now challenged to look to the future and help determine what nurses and patients/consumers will need going forward. This book presents the proceedings of the Post Conference to the 13th International Conference on Nursing Informatics, held in Geneva, Switzerland, in June 2016. The theme of the Post Conference is Forecasting Informatics Competencies for Nurses in the Future of Connected Health. This book includes 25 chapters written as part of the Post Conference; a result of the collaboration among nursing informatics experts from research, education and practice settings, from 18 countries, and from varying levels of expertise – those beginning to forge new frontiers in connected health and those who helped form the discipline. The book content will help forecast and define the informatics competencies for nurses in practice, and as such, it will also help outline the requirements for informatics training in nursing programs around the world. The content will aid in shaping the nursing practice that will exist in our future of connected health, when practice and technology will be inextricably intertwined.

Change agents, in any capacity and environment, play a pivotal role in moving new knowledge and ideas forward. Their role is complex and requires an array of skills that allows productivity and relationship building. This book investigates the change agent role within one large-scale educational initiative, providing an in-depth examination of the entry skills brought to the role, how skills develop over time, and their influence as boundary brokers across all levels of the initiative. This work has implications for any agency with the responsibility of hiring and creating a positive environment for change. It provides insights into the variety of strength profiles that change agents possess, and how constellations of strengths in a group may support one another. The conclusions also shed light on how the skills of change agents may be developed over time in ways that include attention to ongoing, multi-level professional development, support during destabilizing events, ongoing emotional and cognitive support, and using questioning as a powerful tool. Agencies with change agent hiring and support responsibilities will be able to use this information to craft job postings and to design short- and long-term support structures.

Since the DCMS Creative Industries Mapping Document highlighted the key role played by creative activities in the UK economy and society, the creative industries agenda has expanded across Europe and internationally. They have the support of local authorities, regional development agencies, research councils, arts and cultural agencies and other sector organisations. Within this framework, higher education institutions have also engaged in the creative agenda, but have struggled to define their role in this growing sphere of activities. Higher Education and the Creative Economy critically engages with the complex interconnections between higher education, geography, cultural policy and the creative economy. This book is organised into four sections which articulate the range of dynamics that can emerge between higher education and the creative economy: partnership and collaboration across Higher Education institutions and the creative and cultural industries; the development of creative human capital; connections between arts schools and local art scenes; and links with broader policy directions and work. This book describes patterns of behavior that collectively allow universities to exchange knowledge more effectively with industry, accelerate innovation and eventually contribute to economic development. These are based on the effective practices of leading and ambitious universities around the world that the authors have benchmarked, and the personal experiences of the authors in a number of international institution building projects, including those of MIT. The authors provide guidance that is globally applicable, but must be locally adapted. The approach is first to describe the context in which universities act as engines of economic development, and then present a set of effective practices in four domains: education, research, innovation, and supporting practices. Each of these domains has three to six practices, and each practice is presented in a similar template, with an abstract, a rationale and description, key actions and one or two mini-case studies. The practices are summarized by integrative case studies. The book: Focuses on a globally adaptable set of effective practices, complemented by case studies, that can enhance universities’ contribution to economic development, based on an integrated view of education, research and innovation; Presents effective practices and broader insights that come from real global experience, spelled out in templates and explained by cases; Includes tangible resources for university leaders, policy makers and funders on how to proceed.
