Gamer: I have no idea why Raelynn Walker is pretending to be her famous recording artist sister. I know it's been five years since high school, but did she honestly think I wouldn't recognize the shy twin? The one who couldn't carry a tune if her life depended on it? The one I'd crushed on since…forever? Whatever her reason, when she runs into Sam's Pub with a hoard of her sister's fans hot on her heels, throws her arms around me and plants her luscious lips on mine…let's just say that the universe opened and gave me what I'd waited forever for. I should probably tell her I know who she is. Keeping my mouth shut and giving her a wild night in her sister's shoes is wrong, right? Then again, they don't call me Bad Boy Gamer, because I'm…you know…good. Millionaire: She's my best friend's kid sister, and I had long ago vowed to keep away. But when she asks me to help make her dream man jealous at her work's annual weekend getaway, I just about lose my Sh$%. She might think she's the ugly duckling, and maybe I teased her too much when she wore pigtails. But Fu%$ I had to do something to hide my real feelings, because she's the hottest girl I know. If some douchebag is too stupid to see the swan, she shouldn't be with him. No, she should be with a guy like me, one who would worship her, bring her to life beneath my hands…my mouth. But I'm a player with a reputation, and she's off limits. Yeah, keeping my hands to myself is what I need to do. Then again, they don't call me Bad Boy Millionaire, because I'm…you know…good. CEO: I’m the hard-ass president and CEO of a multimillion dollar company. I have rules and do things strictly by the book. Until sweet and innocent Holly crashes her car in a thunderstorm, and I take her to my cabin—my off limits sanctuary outside the city—for safety. She doesn’t know my true identity, doesn’t know my rules: sex is for pleasure, and relationships are out of the question. But when tension bubbles up between us, and nearly sets my cabin on fire, I’m suddenly conflicted. Breaking my rules are out of the question, especially after I find out who she really is. I need to end this. Now. Yeah, walking away is what I need to do. Then again, they don’t call me Bad Boy CEO, because I’m…you know…good.

They arrive alive. They leave dead. But first, they give me their confessions. My name is Jack Steen. That name shouldn't mean anything to you. Unless you're about to die. And then I'm your bloody guardian angel. I work as a night nurse in the Asylum for the criminally insane. My name is the only real name you'll find in this book. I won't tell you which hospital I work at. I won't tell you the names of those dying. But I won't lie to you. You'll read exactly what I'm told. If you're smart, if you're deranged enough to read between the lines, you'll know who is telling the story. They could be playing their final game with me by messing with my head. Now, maybe they're messing with yours too.Inside this book are 4 confessions: One has an interesting 'appetite'. One was the Ken to his Barbie, and he would do anything to keep her happy.Another is a Nanny, but not one you want watching your kids. The other is the sweetest soul you'd ever meet but you'll have a hard time reading her confession. WARNING: There is swearing in this book. And some stories might be a trigger for something you have a hard time handling. But, these are the confessions of serial killers, mass murderers and such. NOTE: These once were published as novellas. Now they're in a full length novel. Deal with it.Want to read the next set of Confession books? Books V-IX of the Confessions trace five crucial years in the life of Augustine, from his debut as a teacher of rhetoric in North Africa to his baptism as a Christian and the renunciation of a worldly career in Milan. This commentary will be invaluable for those wishing to read his story in the original Latin. Through careful glosses and notes, Augustine's Latin is made accessible to students of patristics and of classics. His extensive quotations from Scripture are translated and explained in light of the variant Bible texts and the interpretative assumptions through which he came to understand them. The unfolding of his career is set against the background of political, cultural, and religious change in the fourth century, and the art with which he created a form of narrative without precedent in earlier Latin literature is illustrated in close detail.

From Pulitzer Prize–winner Garry Wills, the story of Augustine’s Confessions In this brief and incisive book, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Garry Wills tells the story of the Confessions--what motivated Augustine to dictate it, how it asks to be read, and the many ways it has been misread in the one-and-a-half millennia since it was composed. Following Wills's biography of Augustine and his translation of the Confessions, this is an unparalleled introduction to one of the most important books in the Christian and Western traditions. Understandably fascinated by the story of Augustine's life, modern readers have largely succumbed to the temptation to read the Confessions as autobiography. But, Wills argues, this is a mistake. The book is not autobiography but rather a long prayer, suffused with the language of Scripture and addressed to God, not man. Augustine tells the story of his life not for its own significance but in order to discern how, as a drama of sin and salvation leading to God, it fits into sacred history. "We have to read Augustine as we do Dante," Wills writes, "alert to rich layer upon layer of Scriptural and theological symbolism." Wills also addresses the long afterlife of the book, from controversy in its own time and relative neglect during the Middle Ages to a renewed prominence beginning in the fourteenth century and persisting to today, when the Confessions has become an object of interest not just for Christians but also historians, philosophers, psychiatrists, and literary critics. With unmatched clarity and skill, Wills strips away the centuries of misunderstanding that have accumulated around Augustine's spiritual classic.

This detailed discussion of Augustine's journey toward God, as it is described in the first six books of the Confessions, begins with infancy, moves through childhood and adolescence, and culminates in youthful maturity. In the first stage, Augustine deals with the problems of original innocence and sin; in the second, he addresses a pear-stealing episode that recapitulates the theft of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden and confronts the problem of sexuality with which he wrestles until his conversion; and in the third, he turns toward philosophy, only to be captivated successively by dualism, skepticism, and Catholicism. Augustine's journey exhibits temporal, spatial, and eternal dimensions and combines his head and his heart in equal proportions. Vaught shows that the Confessions should be interpreted as an attempt to address the person as a whole rather than through our intellectual or volitional dimensions exclusively. The passion with which Augustine describes the end of his journey is reflected best in a sentence found in the opening chapter of the text—"You have made us for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you." Interpreting this statement, Carl G. Vaught presents a more emphatically Christian Augustine than is usually found in contemporary scholarship. Refusing to view Augustine in an exclusively Neoplatonic framework, Vaught holds that Augustine baptizes Plotinus just as successfully as Aquinas baptizes Aristotle. It cannot be denied that Ancient philosophy influences Augustine decisively. Nevertheless, he holds the experiential and the theoretical dimensions of his journey toward God together as a distinctive expression of the Christian tradition.

"As the psalms are a microcosm of the Old Testament, so the Expositions of the Psalms can be seen as a microcosm of Augustinian thought. In the Book of Psalms are to be found the history of the people of Israel, the theology and spirituality of the Old Covenant, and a treasury of human experience expressed in prayer and poetry. So too does the work of expounding the psalms recapitulate and focus the experiences of Augustine's personal life, his theological reflections and his pastoral concerns as Bishop of Hippo."--Publisher's website.
