Muchas organizaciones ejercen práctica en planificación control, evaluación y rendición de cuentas del plan, pero todavía los instrumentos, métodos, procesos, sistemas y enfoques no son apropiados para evidenciar el desempeño interno, y cómo están atendiendo las exigencias de clientes. Es decir, probablemente han estado concibiendo planes para nuevos problemas con viejas herramientas al comunicar su desempeño. Se ha considerado que, si el presupuesto, objetivos, iniciativas y prioridades son soporte a la estrategia de la organización, existe necesidad de saber “quiénes ganan y quiénes pierden” con el desempeño y resultados de una organización pública o privada, y cómo han impactado los entornos donde tienen su campo de acción. Si se trata de hacerlo mejor progresivamente en el curso del tiempo, el paradigma debe centrarse en mejor calidad de contenido del plan y gerenciarlo consistentemente. De esta forma, existirá margen para dar a conocer que si “algo bueno ha pasado” se replique, o tengamos información recopilada durante el ciclo gerencial para revertir condiciones negativas en desempeños futuros. Bajo consideración de lo anterior, el autor da respuesta metodológica a la integración de medición, evaluación y comunicaciones escritas, de tal manera que el contenido de la estrategia forme parte consistentemente de la dinámica gerencial y se evidencie ética y transparentemente el éxito de la organización.

Olympic Event Organization is the first text to address a number of important questions in contemporary mega-event management: Which organizations are involved in the Olympic Movement and in what capacity? What are the interorganizational flows of authority and finance between them? How is work grouped, in what unit sizes, how specialized and formalized are work processes? How complex, dynamic, diversified, or friendly is their environment? What are the power issues and how do the technological processes affect these organizations? How do the OCOGs evolve in their life cycle, what pressures shape their structures and management processes and how is work co-ordinated? The examination of the Olympic Games event organization in the 10-year period, from bidding to post-games closing down, draws material from host cities to explore the types of interorganizational flows that take place at various stages for the Olympic Games to be delivered.
