The status of each species based on present knowledge, is indicated in abbreviated form after the name of the bird. This information is derived from published and unpublished data and from the personal knowledge of the authors. The check-list includes every species recorded in the Republic of Korea and comprises 18 orders, 67 families and 360 species. (Author).

The checklist includes all the birds recorded from Korea including Quelpart (Cheju), Dagelet (Ullung) and smaller offshore islands. It lists 382 species of 18 Orders, 67 Families and 189 Genera, with 191 subspecies, a total of 419 forms. Each form is given with the scientific, Korean and English names and synonyms where these are necessary. Details of specimens in the author and other recent collections and present status are also included. The majority of the collections examined are those made by the author in South Korea since the Korean War. (Author).
