The guidelines show how national governments can plan, develop, implement and monitor a national programme on sustainable consumption and production (SCP). This is a flexible approach to SCP programme development which will be adapted to local circumstances. The guidelines are also useful to countries that already have a SCP programme but are keen to improve and sustain the process. They contain nine case studies and several other examples of good practice, which illustrate how governments are implementing SCP programmes all over the world.

The Committee on Fisheries established the Sub-Committee on Fish Trade to serve as a multilateral framework for consultations on international trade in fishery products. The sixteenth session of the Sub-Committee was held in Busan, Republic of Korea, from 4 to 8 September 2017. The Sub-Committee took note of recent developments concerning international trade in fishery products. It also considered specific issues related to international trade and sustainable fisheries development, including: - reduction of fish food loss and waste; - Voluntary Guidelines for Catch Documentation Schemes (CDS); - update on activities related to food quality, safety and market access; - fish trade and the Convention on international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora (CITES); and - monitoring the implementation of article 11 of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF). The Sub-Committee for the first time also addressed the following topics: - social sustainability in fisheri es value chains and the link to trade; - the impact of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) on livelihoods, trade, food fish supply and consumption; and - the impact of climate change on future fish supply, trade and consumption.

2002 has been designated the International Year of Ecotourism by the United Nations. The concept of ecotourism relates to tourism activities which observe and appreciate nature, which contribute to its conservation, and seek to minimise any negative impact on the natural and socio-cultural environment. The main objective of this publication is to disseminate good practices regarding the planning and management of ecotourism activities. It contains 55 case studies from 39 countries which demonstrate a wide range of successful initiatives. Each considers the stakeholders involved, objectives and strategies, funding, sustainability and monitoring aspects, problems encountered and solutions found in each project.

The workshop agreed that an international instrument on small-scale fisheries and a related programme would be important tools for securing sustainable small-scale fisheries. It recommended that a small-scale fisheries international instrument and assistance programme should be informed by human rights principles and existing instruments relevant to good governance and sustainable development, comprise the ecosystem approach to fisheries (EAF) as a guiding principle for resource management and development, and incorporate Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) as an integral part considering that DRM is a continuum process, before, during and after a disaster.
