The Story: We know next to nothing of the man Saul of Tarsus. Sauls home was Tarsus. He was a Jew and proudly a Pharisee. More importantly, he was a zealot. He studied under the great rabbi Gamaliel. We know nothing of his father, not even his name, except he was a Roman citizen. Since Sauls living came from tent-making, we can speculate that his father was a tent-maker I have endeavored to recreate Sauls early life and experiences on the basis of what we do know from the scriptures and from first-century Jewish culture. To this are added logical suppositions. This is a fictionalized history of Saul up to the beginning of his ministries to the Gentiles, when he became the Apostle Paul. The book introduces Sauls family and presents a theory of why Scripture is silent about them. Its narrative explores his early developing of zeal for the Law. It suggests early romance and why Saul never married. It explores his early training under the great Rabbi Gamaliel. It shows Sauls growing hatred of Christians and his zeal at persecuting them. It examines Sauls conversion and the changed and disruptions that entails. It speculates his being in the school of Christ during three years in Nabatean desert. It follows Saul in his first evangelistic ventures. It looks into his tentative approach to the Disciples of Jesus. It speculates on initial meetings and development of relationships with Barnabus and Silas. It explores some of the chastisements Saul received as a result of preaching the Gospel.

Terry Morgan's second novel, 'Saul', is a thrilling re-interpretation and re-telling of the foundation of the kingdom of Israel. Saul, a young warrior, is chosen as Israel's first king by the prophet Samuel. With the help of his family and his right-hand man, the scribe Horebshep, he seeks to establish a firm foundation for his nation in the teeth of violent and sometimes unexpected opposition. Terry Morgan's re-creation of the beginnings of the three-thousand year conflict between Israel and the Philistines is a tale of lasting love and broken friendships and of noble ideals and vaulting ambition. Familiar events and characters such as Saul, Samuel, David and Goliath are given a new twist as a story of love, adventure and betrayal unfolds. 'Saul' is a rattling good read, reminiscent of novels such as 'The Robe' and 'Spartacus'.

Five years after the woman Saul had expected to spend his life with rejected him and married a wealthy Santa Fe businessman, he meets the spinster who just opened a bookstore in his town. Undeniably, the lady is not his type, but something about her keeps drawing him back to her shop. Could it be their common enjoyment of dime novels filled with action and adventure, or something more? Saul's life is about to become complicated when the woman who rejected him, now a widow, moves back to town and sets her sights on him. Moving to Cielo Azul is a dream come true for Grace Hillsdale. After searching for the perfect town to open a bookstore, but also quench her loneliness, she believes she's finally achieved her goal. The town, now connected via shortline railroad to Santa Fe, has transformed from a stagecoach stop into a thriving population of businesses, ranchers, farmers, and most importantly, families. During her initial visit she spied a cowboy who embodied the essence of the "Wild West" of New Mexico Territory, and is thrilled when he begins visiting her bookstore. Soon they become friends. Only in her thoughts, however, does she affectionately dub him as "her cowboy." She's convinced he could never see her as anyone other than a friend.
