Born for Restoration is about my life. "Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you, and before you came out of the womb I set you apart" (Jeremiah 1:5, ISR). Psalm 23 is a song sung about a life starting and experiencing the tests of discovering our purpose and who is with us as we go through the birth canal until eternity. 1. I am convinced that even before I was in my mother's womb the Lord was my Shepherd; with Him I never experienced lack. 2. He instructed me in the comfort of the womb to lie down in green pastures as He spoke to me throughout my journey. I was guided beside still waters parting the way into this world. The river of life spoke through the Lord as a Spirit of comfort and calm embraced me. 3. Leaving the comfort of mercy (Heb: Rachem=womb) when I entered the world and made wrong choices the Lord turns back my being; He leads me on the cycles of righteousness. This was the beginning of my restoration birth. I was told this journey is not just about you, but you are a voice telling people who I am. I learned His name, and this was one of the most important aspects of this message. 4. As I ran my race then walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I did not fear because He told me I did not give you a spirit of fear. I gave you a spirit of love and power through my Spirit and a steadfast mind toward Me. I Am with you. The Lord disciplined me when I needed it, and that was a comfort because He was all about preserving my life as any good Father desires. 5. I recognized the tables as the tablets He set before me in the presence of my enemies. These commandments were needed, so I looked at them and not the faces of my enemies. As time continues, this journey with the Lord of Restoration sets me apart by anointing my mind and my life overflowing with a desire to listen and obey His Word and influence others to consider this journey of restoration. 6. As a result of repentance, only goodness and loving commitment follows me. And now I know my journey is to dwell in the house of the Lord to the length of days!

(Applause Books). Here is how producer Sid Luft orchestrated the deal for his wife, how Cukor was selected to direct, how James Mason was cast to co-star and how Moss Hart's script was developed. THIS IS NO TIME TO RUN AND HIDE America seems to be crumbling from within. Having abandoned the Judeo-Christian values that are the foundation of its culture, our nation, in the eyes of many, is going the way of the great civilizations of the past. If our 250-year experiment in ordered liberty has really run its course, is it time to recognize the inevitable, pack up our families, and head for the hills, hunkering down through the dark days to come? Or is there hope for an American restoration? Tim Goeglein and Craig Osten, battle-hardened veterans of the culture wars, know as well as anyone that the decadence is undeniable. But they make the case that an American restoration is not only possible, but probable—if we act now. The key is for Christians to engage with the culture, not flee from it, to be the salt and light that will renew it from within. That engagement must take place especially at the local level, where real spiritual and cultural transformation occurs. If America returns to its spiritual foundations, the tumultuous times we live in will be nothing more than a bumpy detour in our nation’s history. This book is a roadmap for the way back. In this clear-eyed but hopeful guide to restoration, Goeglein and Osten explain how patriotic Americans, with God’s help, can renew fifteen critical components of our culture. Government will not provide the solutions we desperately need. The solutions lie in our churches, our communities, and our homes. The light for our path is faith. As that light pierces the darkness, America will experience a reawakening, regeneration, and renewal.

“A tremendous talent.” —Boston Globe “Restoration is an elegantly constructed work of fiction, seamlessly moving between the past and the present.” —Ron Rash, bestselling author of Serena Acclaimed novelist Olaf Olafsson brings us Restoration, a sweeping story of love tested by human frailty and the terrors and tragedies of war. Departing from the landscapes of his native Iceland—so beautifully evoked in Absolution, The Journey Home, and other previous works—Olafson sets Restoration in the gorgeous Italian hills of Tuscany during the World War Two years of the early 1940s. He captivates readers with a deeply emotional story in the vein of The English Patient by Michael Ondaajte, Ian McEwan’s Atonement, and other contemporary literary classics, spinning a tale of passion, art, war, and betrayal centered around a pair of love triangles and a forged Caravaggio.

Scores of birthplace monuments and historic childhood homes dot the American landscape. These special places, many dating to the early years of the last century, have enshrined nativity alongside patriotism and valor among the key pillars of the nation's popular historical imagination. The essays in this volume suggest that the way Americans have celebrated famous births reflects evolving expectations of citizenship as well as a willingness to edit the past when those hopes go unfulfilled. The contributors also demonstrate that the reinvention of origin myths at birthplace monuments still factors in American political culture and the search for meaning in an ever-shifting global order. Beyond asking why it is that Americans care about birthplaces and how they choose which ones to commemorate, Born in the U.S.A. offers insights from historians, curators, interpretive specialists, and others whose experience speaks directly to the challenges of managing historical sites. Each essay points to new ways of telling old stories at these mainstays of American memory. The case of the modern house museum receives special attention in a provocative concluding essay by Patricia West. In addition to West and the editor, contributors include Christine Arato, Dan Currie, Keith A. Erekson, David Glassberg, Anna Thompson Hajdik, Zachary J. Lechner, Paul Lewis, Hilary Iris Lowe, Cynthia Miller, Laura Lawfer Orr, Robert Paynter, Angela Phelps, and Paul Reber.
