The Introduction then offers an overview of printed paper collectables which were the ancestors of postcards. These precursors include, for instance, the carte-de-visite, greeting cards, trading cards, and printed envelopes. Then the focus becomes more refined, examining the emergence of the specifically literary postcard, a category which includes, of course, portraits of authors, but, in addition, images of their homes, schools, graves, statues, relatives, lovers, monuments, as well as depictions of characters from their books.

The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1955, volume 2, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee in March through September 1955. Historical information concerning Brother Lee's travels and the content of his ministry in 1955 can be found in the general preface that appears at the beginning of volume 1 in this set. The contents of this volume are divided into six sections, as follows: 1. Diary entries and notes written in the Philippines in March through September. The first three might have been written in Taiwan, before Brother Lee's visit to the Philippines. These diary entries and notes are included in this volume under the title Witness Lee's Personal Notes. 2. Fourteen talks given in Manila, Philippines, on March 27 through April 8. These talks, based on 1 and 2 Peter, are included in this volume under the title The Living under God's Governmental Administration in His Salvation and the Provisions of the Divine Life. 3. Four messages given in Baguio, Philippines, in April and May. These messages were previously published in a six-chapter book entitled How to Be Useful to the Lord. During the compilation of the messages for The Collected Works of Witness Lee, chapters 4 and 5 from the previously published book were moved to the section in volume 3 entitled The Way for a Christian to Mature in Life. The remaining four chapters are included in this volume under the title Concerning How to Be Useful to the Lord. 4. Three messages given in Manila, Philippines, on April 5 through 12. These messages are included in this volume under the title Concerning How to Do Things in the Service of the Church. 5. Thirty-seven messages given in Manila, Philippines, on April 13 through September 13. These messages are included in this volume under the title Seeing Christ as Life in Matthew through Acts. 6. The T&T Clark Encyclopedia of Second Temple Judaism provides a comprehensive reference resource of over 600 scholarly articles aimed at scholars and students interested in Judaism of the Second Temple Period. The two-volume work is split into four parts. Part One offers a prolegomenon for the contemporary study and appreciation of Second Temple Judaism, locating the discipline in relation to other relevant fields (such as Hebrew Bible, Rabbinics, Christian Origins). Beginning with a discussion of terminology, the discussion suggests ways the Second Temple period may be described, and concludes by noting areas of study that challenge our perception of ancient Judaism. Part Two presents an overview of respective contexts of the discipline set within the broad framework of historical chronology corresponding to a set of full-colour, custom-designed maps. When she died in 2016, Dr Jennifer O’Reilly left behind a body of published and unpublished work in three areas of medieval studies: the iconography of the Gospel Books produced in early medieval Ireland and Anglo-Saxon England; the writings of Bede and his older Irish contemporary, Adomnán of Iona; and the early lives of Thomas Becket. In these three areas she explored the connections between historical texts, artistic images and biblical exegesis. This volume brings together seventeen essays, published between 1984 and 2013, on the interplay of texts and images in medieval art. Most focus on the manuscript art of early medieval Ireland and England. The first section includes four studies of the Codex Amiatinus, produced in Northumbria in the monastic community of Bede. The second section contains seven essays on the iconography and text of the Book of Kells. In the third section there are five studies of Anglo-Saxon Art, examined in the context of the Benedictine Reform. A concluding essay, on the medieval iconography of the two trees in Eden, traces the development of a motif from Late Antiquity to the end of the Middle Ages.(CS1080)

During this period Brother Lee remained in Los Angeles, where he gave a lengthy series of forty-eight messages on the kingdom of God, mainly from the perspective of life. This volume is composed of these messages, which were published in 1980 in a fifty-chapter book entitled The Kingdom.
