This atlas contains 189 coloured images taken from transversal, horizontal and sagittal sections of eleven organisms widely used in university teaching. Six invertebrate and five vertebrate species – from the nematode worm (Ascaris suum) to mammals (Rattus norvegicus) – are shown in detailed images. Studying the macrosections with unaided eyes, with a simple magnifier or binocular microscope might be of great help to accomplish traditional anatomical studies and to establish a certain spatial experience/space perception. This volume will be of great interest for biology students, researchers and teachers of comparative anatomy. It might act as supporting material of practical courses. Furthermore, medical practitioners, agricultural specialists and researchers having an interest in comparative anatomy might also benefit from it.

This stand-alone, comprehensive, fully- illustrated atlas of descriptive embryology features over 250 detailed, accurate, and fully labeled illustrations (photomicrographs, line drawings, and orientation drawings). Broad in coverage, it considers many different organisms, and features comparative embryology (i.e., gametogenesis in rat, human, cat, grasshopper, locust; development of Ascaris, sea urchin, starfish, frog, chick, and pig; and the human uterus and placenta). *Features exceptionally high-quality illustrations - photomicrographs, line drawings, and orientation drawings . *Streamlines the organization by grouping together chapters that focus on related areas. *Updates and revises terminology for all illustrations throughout. *Provides a revised glossary. *Offers comprehensive coverage of a large variety of organisms. Features about 250 high-quality photomicrographic illustrations - clearly and accurately labeled. *Includes about 50 valuable line-drawings from classical textbooks - many of which are now out of print. *Contains orientation drawings for transverse sections. *Provides a combined Glossary, Synopsis of Development, and Index.

This new manual takes a systemic approach with each chapter focusing on one body system. The order of chapters follows the traditional order found in anatomy or anatomy and physiology courses. The photos include skeletal images, photomicrographs of histology and cadaver dissections. This atlas includes full-color photographs of actual cadaver dissections instead of idealized illustrations, to accurately and realistically represent anatomical structures.

A vital resource on blood and bone marrow cell morphology in laboratory animal medicine. This fully revised new edition is an essential reference for clinical pathologists in diagnostic laboratories, and medical or veterinary research. The atlas contains over 400 color images of cells from the peripheral blood and bone marrow from a variety of animals encountered in laboratory animal medicine, in health and disease. Key features: New chapter on flow cytometry and its application in terms of routine analyses as a means of identifying abnormalities in cell marker expression, which is of particular relevance for pre-clinical safety assessment Covers the most recent developments in laboratory animal hematology, including parameters measured by the latest generation of analyzers Coverage of a wide range of laboratory animal species, as well as those used in clinical veterinary trials Photomicrographs present normal and abnormal blood cells from a variety of hematological conditions along with descriptive text
