In 1961 John was elected Treasurer for the Town of Madbury and continued to serve in that capacity until his death. He was a kind and generous man who felt a strong sense of civic duty. John was devoted to his family who shared his love for birds and animals, the beach, and his home and gardens. He was respected and loved by all who knew him.
