Text comprehension is a critical area of psychological and educational research, and has particular relevance to educational context. The general aim of this international volume Reading Comprehension in Educational Settings is to encourage excellence in research and to bring together teachers, students, researchers and other professionals from different disciplines (e.g. psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, education, information technology, and communication), as well as all those members of the general public who have an interest in the study of reading. The specific objectives of the different chapters in this volume are to analyze existing methods of studying the various aspects of reading comprehension, disseminate results already obtained by research groups working in the field and debate current and future trends in the study of reading.

Discurso y conocimiento se trata de un libro sobre las maneras que tienen los usuarios del lenguaje en gestionar el conocimiento en el discurso. Trata sobre el tipo de conocimiento general, sociocultural, que periodistas y lectores, entre muchos otros usuarios del lenguaje, han de tener para ser capaces de escribir o leer y comprender una noticia, para participar en una conversación, para dictar una clase o participar en reuniones profesionales, así como para muchos otros géneros de discursos. Hay muchos miles de libros sobre conocimiento, en variadas disciplinas, y muchos cientos de libros sobre discurso. Sin embargo, pese a las múltiples e interesantes relaciones entre las dos nociones, no existe ni siquiera una monografía que, sistemáticamente, se centre en el estudio de esas relaciones. This publication brings together some of the papers presented at the 4th International Conference on Corpus Use and Learning to Translate (CULT), which took place at the University of Alicante on 27–29 May 2015, organised by the University’s Department of Translation and Interpreting. Spanish and international researchers, translator trainers, and trainee and professional translators gathered at the conference in order to further their knowledge of corpus use, translation training and professional practice. The book includes contributions on the use of multilingual corpora in teaching scientific translation; trans-collocations in parallel corpora; teaching and learning the language of tourism as a Language for Specific Purposes (LSP); and a collocational analysis of verb work in a specialised corpus of English non-financial reports, among others.
