This is particularly true in arithmetic and reading. The two studies on the measurement of arithmetical abilities in Indiana published in 1915 and 1916 by Dr. Melvin E. Haggerty have stimulated a third survey in arithmetic in which twenty-seven towns and cities participated, the complete results of which will soon go to press. A brief report of the study by Dean H.
