The Nat. Park Service, is responsible for establishing standards for and advising Fed. agencies on the preservation of historic prop. listed or eligible for listing in the Nat. Reg. of Historic Places. These standards have been developed to guide work undertaken on historic buildings. There are separate standards for acquisition, protection, stabilization, preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, and reconstruction.
