Excerpt from Annual Report of the Public Utilities Commission, State of Maine: For the Year Ending October 31, 1918 The Scarboro Water Company is incorporated under Chap ter 459, Private and Special Laws of 1901, for the purpose of conveying to and supplying the inhabitants of that part of Scarboro known as Higgins Beach, with water for domestic, sanitary, industrial, municipal and commercial purposes, includ ing the extinguishment of fires and sprinkling streets. Its charter was amended in 1913, Private and Special Laws, Chalp ter 175, to permit it to manufacture and sell gas in the same territory. It has not yet exercised this right. The corporation does a summer business exclusively, and does not undertake to render any municipal service.
