Excerpt from Proceedings of the Eighteenth Annual Meeting of the Stockholders of the Raleigh and Gaston Rail Road Company, Held at Raleigh, July 16, 1868: With the Reports of the President, Treasurer, &C On motion of Geo. W. Mordecai, Esq., the Hon. D. M. Barringer was called to the Chair, and on motion of Dr. W. J. Hawkins, Gen. W. R. Cox and W. W. Vass were requested to act as Secretaries. The committee on proxies reported through Joseph J. Davis, that there was a large majority of the stock of the Company represented: In person shares, by proxy shares total number represented in the meeting shares. The Chair announced that the meeting was regularly organized and ready for the transaction of business. Dr. W. J.
