CRC Handbook of Phytochemical Constituents of GRAS Herbs and Other Economic Plants is a unique catalog that includes more than 15,000 phytochemical constituents from over 1,000 higher plant species. This volume covers all of the generally-recognized-as-safe (GRAS) herbs and at least 250 important food and medicinal plants. Each entry features the scientific name, one or more common names, a listing of phytochemical constituents, a single datum or range of quantitative data (wet-weight to dry-weight in parts per million), two-letter abbreviation identifying the plant part, and three-letter abbreviation(s) indicating the source(s) of the data. The extraordinary amount of data compiled into an easy-to-use tabular format makes the CRC Handbook of Phytochemical Constituents of GRAS Herbs and Other Economic Plants a volume useful to all pharmacologists, toxicologists, nutritionists, pharmacognicists, and food scientists.

This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 22nd International Conference on Theorem Proving in Higher Order Logics (TPHOLs 2009), which was held during August 17-20, 2009 in Munich, Germany. TPHOLs covers all aspects of theorem proving in higher order logics as well as related topics in theorem proving and veri?cation. There were 55 papers submitted to TPHOLs 2009 in the full research c- egory, each of which was refereed by at least three reviewers selected by the ProgramCommittee. Of these submissions, 26 researchpapers and 1 proofpearl were accepted for presentation at the conference and publication in this v- ume. In keeping with longstanding tradition, TPHOLs 2009 also o?ered a venue for the presentation of emerging trends, where researchers invited discussion by means of a brief introductory talk and then discussed their work at a poster session. A supplementary proceedings volume was published as a 2009 technical report of the Technische Universit¨ at Munc ¨ hen. The organizers are grateful to David Basin, John Harrison and Wolfram Schulte for agreeing to give invited talks. We also invited four tool devel- ers to give tutorials about their systems. In the present era various international organizations, such as FAO, UNO, IAEA, FNCA, etc., have unanimously agreed that millions of people in both developing and developed countries are not only facing a shortage of food, but also non-availability of nutrients. The main reason put forward by these agencies is that there is less genetic diversity prevalent in the major crops, which has been further diminished since the inception of conventional plant breeding. Since the first decade of the last century the mutation breeding approach has been pivotal in enhancing the genetic diversity of crops, thereby enriching the genetic pool. ‘Mutagenesis: exploring genetic diversity of crops’ describes the latest achievements in mutation breeding, with a particular focus on the development of novel mutant varieties and F1 hybrids of crops highly superior to the parental ones. The book details experimental as well as literary studies of induced mutagenesis and its role in developing the new potent varieties. The book will be useful for agricultural policy making authorities in countries of agricultural importance, scientific researchers, breeders, teachers and students keen to use mutation breeding and to explore its hidden potential to secure food and nutrient availability for the growing world population.
